We are the UK’s leading financial services eLearning solutions provider delivering exceptional eLearning experiences through our award-winning learning platform.


We are looking for a talented and driven individual to join our Platform Development Team at Unicorn Training Group in Bournemouth. This role will require you to design, develop and maintain the Unicorn LMS to the highest quality in terms of design, creative approach and user experience, whilst working within an agile team using up-to-date modern industry standard architecture and technologies that are scalable, easily maintained and upgraded and delivered.


 


Responsibilities



  • Enhance and expand the core features of the Unicorn LMS

  • Work within the agreed development working practices of the team

  • Respond to and manage support issues raised to second line and participate in investigation and issue resolution

  • Continuously improve the underlying software

  • Contribute appropriately to issue resolution given balance between service level agreements and project requirements

  • Support near continuous deployment builds

  • Contribute to the production of releases for:

    • Feature releases

    • Interim bug-fix releases

    • Roll out of release



  • Review and support customer data feed setup and imports and single sign on when required

  • Innovate and contribute to ongoing technical and process improvement

  • Contribute to ongoing process improvement (retrospectives)

  • Be committed to supporting the rest of the team in achieving team commitments

  • Contribute to the Scrumban methodology by being an active team member being responsible for the delivery of user stories in a multi-disciplinary and agile manner

  • Assist with ensuring code quality and high team skill-base by participating in pair-programming and similar forms of team support

  • Documentation of working processes and platform architecture

  • Ensure time is logged to improve Management Information and project profitability tracking and help with planning


Skills and Competencies



  • Essential:

    • C# (7+) and .NET Framework (4.6+)

    • Microsoft ASP.NET MVC and Microsoft WebAPI

    • HTML, CSS, XML & Javascript

    • NHibernate

    • JQuery

    • Knockout.JS

    • Microsoft SQL Server and SQL Server Profiling

    • Test Driven Development, NUnit, Integration Testing and Mocking

    • Dependency Injection

    • Software Design patterns

    • Git version control

    • Experience developing scalable web-based systems

    • Understanding agile software development principles and practices

    • Understanding technical issues and considerations and provide constructive feedback to the development team and other stakeholders.

    • Excellent documentation skills, attention to detail and an ability to communicate detailed technical issues to stakeholders and to the internal business/project team.

Along the way we have won many awards for the quality of our learning academies and performance platforms, and the creativity and effectiveness of our custom content, learning games and off the shelf courses.


We are looking for an experienced Bid Manager to join our Business Development Team. Based primarily at Unicorn in Bournemouth, it will also include travel to our other locations, and client sites from time to time, so may mean some early starts, and late finishes to meet the demands of our growing business.


This role involves creating, developing and implementing a bid strategy that will result in the company consistently winning new business with new and existing clients. Whilst


strategic in nature, the role also requires someone who is prepared to act on their own initiative and work closely with the Creative, Content, LMS and Sales and Marketing teams.

Responsibilities



  • Seek new business opportunities via known tendering sites and research new channels

  • Develop new business through the successful completion of the bid, proposal or tender process

  • Support new opportunities for inclusion onto Preferred Supplier Lists (PSL’s)

  • Accompany sales at client meetings and with key stakeholders, representing the company at meetings, presentations and conferences as required

  • Take the role of project manager to co-ordinate any significant bid activity, working closely with key stakeholders, internally and within clients to progress opportunities

  • Increase the bid win ratio

  • Build and manage the bid database of resources

  • Gather and report feedback from all completed tenders

  • Liaise with the marketing team

  • Implement improvements to the bid and tender function

  • Maintain the bid register


Skills and Competencies




  • Develops strong partnerships and builds relationships internally and with clients

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

  • Negotiation skills, being assertive when necessary and evaluating requirements accurately to achieve a mutually beneficial outcome

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Self-motivated and well organised with the ability to prioritise appropriately under pressure

  • Proven ability to meet deadlines with consistent success

  • Accuracy and attention to detail, with particular experience of reviewing, editing and proofing high quality written documents

  • Possesses a commercial acumen and awareness

  • Able to demonstrate a creative and innovative approach to bid writing


Salary negotiable.


A healthcare benefit and group life assurance is also available after a qualifying period.


24 days holiday (increasing with length of service) plus All Bank Holidays.


We will require references and an up-to-date CV. Fluent English is a must for this role as you will be interfacing with the rest of the business and clients and you must be eligible to work in the UK.
